Your carpets will last you many years and stay beautiful if properly cared for and maintained. Clean carpets will also help in keeping your indoor environment a healthy one.
Following are some key tips that will help ensure you will get long life out of your carpets:
1. Vacuum your carpets three times a week using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate) filter. When dirt particals get in your carpets they can wear at the carpet fibers causing them to breakdown. Vacuuming reduces the particles which then reduces wear and tear.
2. Remove stains and spills as promptly as possible. The faster you get to a stain the less time it has to soak in and set. Use a dry cloth or paper towel to blot up as much of the liquid as possible being careful not to drive the liquid deaper into the carpet. Apply a professional grade spot cleaner to the stain and then blot to remove it.
3. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends having carpets professionally cleaned by a carpet cleaning service, a minimum of every six months!
